Real Parent Stories with Jeff

Meet Jeff, who lives in Los Angeles, California. Jeff works with special needs kids at a local high school and is a brand new dad. His little one is 4 and a half months old.

What were your first thoughts and feelings after your baby was born?

My first thought was basically, “Oh my God, I’m actually a parent!” I instantly felt like my life was changed forever, in the best way possible.

Did you settle quickly into a routine with your baby? If so, do you think it worked well for you?

My wife and I definitely settled into a routine quickly. We both had a few weeks off of work and were basically at our little guy’s beck and call. With that being said, it was easy to get a routine down, but very hard to adjust to our new lives.

How soon after your baby was born did you begin to swaddle your baby?

Immediately after our baby was born, he was being swaddled. From the moment he was handed off to me at the hospital, he was wrapped up very tight. I remember having 5 different nurses teaching me how to swaddle with a blanket and each time, I had trouble with it.

How did you come to know about LOVE TO DREAM™?

My wife researched online for ways to easily swaddle a baby without using a traditional blanket. She stumbled upon Love To Dream, and the rest was history!

Do you feel like using the LOVE TO DREAM™ range of products has made a positive impact on you and your baby's sleep?

Absolutely! Most nights he would wake up every time I tried using a blanket. With the LOVE TO DREAM SWADDLE UP™, it took about 7 seconds and he usually slept through the process. Not only that, but he definitely slept longer through the night because there was no way he could get himself loose.

What is the one thing you wish you'd known before you became a parent?

As a guy, I thought having a newborn was going to be a lot easier than it was. My wife tried to warn me, but I thought she was being dramatic, lol. I figured I’d only lose a little sleep, but boy was I wrong!

Three words to describe life before parenthood and three to describe life after becoming a parent?

Freedom, vacations, and date nights vs. exhausted, life changing, responsibility

What is the one piece of advice you’d offer new parents or parents-to-be?

Other than sleep now, enjoy the process because time flies!

What are your top 5 essential items to have ready to go when baby arrives?

  2. Baby wipes
  3. Bassinet
  4. Onesies with mittens
  5. The LOVE TO DREAM SWADDLE UP™!
